A non-profit organization uniting Slovenian people by educating and promoting Slovenian culture and language Purpose and Goals SLOVENSKA PALMA was founded and officially registered in Florida for the purpose of uniting Slovenian people living in US, mainly in Florida . The main function of this organization is preserving the Slovenian heritage by maintaining Slovenian culture and the Slovenian language. We are a group of young Slovenians, who would like to maintain our connections to our homeland and keep the Slovenian uniqueness and pass these values to our future generations. Gathering and Meetings of Slovenians in Florida Our first official reunion took place on November 6, 2004 in Ft. Lauderdale , FL. Over 80 fellow Slovenians and friends of Slovenian culture came from Orlando , Naples , West Palm Beach and Miami to join us at the meeting. We are planning to meet officially at least four times a year, and thus continue preserving our national identity. Education and Preserving of the Slovenian language A mobile library is going to be established with the sole purpose of providing our Slovenians with novels and textbooks in Slovenian language. This would enable us to preserve and maintain continuous education in Slovenian language. Promoting Slovenian Culture In addition to preserving Slovenian culture among Slovenians, our plan is to promote Slovenian natural beauties to our non-Slovenian speaking friends, co-workers, and acquaintances. In such way, we are intending to promote Slovenian culture and tourism, as well as establish a possibility for future economic and business relationships between US and Slovenia .
